Jakarta is a great place to learn more about Indonesia’s complicated history and to visit cultural and historical locations to get a glimpse of how the city would have looked in the past.

After arriving into Jakarta, you’ll have the afternoon free. You could take a walk around your accommodation, see the nearby attractions and familiarise yourself with the area.

The following morning, you’ll be off on a Old Batavia Tour. Your first stop is Glodok, one of the biggest Chinatowns in the world! Walk through this market and visit Jin De Yuan, a Chinese temple and join in and pray with the locals. From here we’ll make a stop at Fatahillah Square, popularly known as Kota Tua. Find old colonial buildings, museums, and local street entertainers in this well-preserved historic site before heading to Wayang Kulit Puppet Museum to see the large collection of puppets from various provinces in Indonesia and other countries. You will also will make a quick stop at Toko Merah, the red building before heading to Sunda Kelapa Harbour. Walk around this fish market and take some pictures of the big wooden boats before going back.

The next day is at leisure - perhaps watch an Indonesian movie at the cinemas. It would definitely be an interesting experience.

You will have one last free day before going back home.
